Country, regional or global plan: which do I need?

Start with your route, not the plan type. Write down every country where you will need data, including stopovers and the days you cross a border. Then pick the simplest plan that covers all of it.

The three kinds of plan

  • Country plan: for one destination, or a long stay in one country. It can give you more data for the price, because you are not paying for wider coverage.
  • Regional plan: one eSIM for several countries in the same part of the world. The data is usually one shared allowance, so heavy use early in the trip leaves less for later.
  • Global plan: for trips across continents, frequent travel, or routes that may change. Even a global plan does not include every country.

Check these on the plan page

  • The country list. Two plans both called "Europe" or "Global" can cover different countries. Make sure every stop is on the list.
  • How long it lasts. The plan has to cover your whole trip, from the first day you need data to the last. Also check what starts the plan's days.
  • Fixed or unlimited data. A fixed plan gives one amount of data for the whole trip. An unlimited plan gives a high-speed allowance each day; after that, data keeps working at a reduced speed until the allowance refills. The plan page shows the daily amount.
  • Top-ups. Some plans let you add more data to the same eSIM later.

If you need a phone number, calls or texts, choose a plan that includes them. The plan page says so when it does; all other plans are data only.

Mixing plans

You can install more than one eSIM. For example, a regional plan can cover most of a trip, with a country plan for one place where you need more data. Each eSIM is its own line, so you switch your mobile data to the right one when you cross the border.

Browse our plans, or contact support if you are not sure which one fits your trip.
