"Slow data or no signal: what to try"
Speed depends on the local network, where you are and how busy the network is. These steps fix most problems.
Check your plan
- Is it still active, with data left? A plan that has expired or run out stops working, and no phone setting will change that.
- Does it have a daily high-speed allowance? Once you've used the day's allowance, data keeps working at a lower speed until it resets. That's expected. Your plan page shows the allowance and the lower speed.
- Are you in a country your plan covers?
Quick fixes
- Turn Airplane mode on for about 30 seconds, then off. If that doesn't help, restart your phone.
- Move somewhere with better reception. Signal is often weaker indoors, underground and in remote areas.
- Turn off any VPN app, and Low Data Mode (iPhone) or Data Saver (Android), while you test.
- Try a different network, as below.
Choose a network by hand
Where more than one network is available, another one may work better.
- Open Settings > Cellular and tap the SilentSIM eSIM line.
- Tap Network Selection and turn off Automatic.
- Wait for the list to load, choose a different network, then test again.
- Samsung: open Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Network operators. Pixel and most others: open Settings > Network & internet > SIMs and choose the eSIM.
- Turn off automatic selection (Select automatically or Automatically select network).
- Wait for the list to load, choose a different network, then test again.
If a network won't connect, try another one or switch back to automatic. Turn automatic selection back on before you travel to another country.
Still slow or no signal?
Contact support and send, in one message:
- your phone's make, model and software version;
- the city you're in, or a map link;
- the network the eSIM is on;
- a screenshot of the error or of a speed test, if you have one;
- when it started, with your time zone.
If calls or texts on your eSIM's number are affected too, tell us that as well.
